Uninstalling Other Antivirus Products

CAUTION: The steps in this process will leave you without antivirus protection.

These are general instructions for uninstalling most antivirus programs. See your antivirus program's documentation for additional details.

Uninstall antivirus products from:

 


Microsoft Windows 7

  1. Close any open applications before you continue.
  2. Open your Windows Control Panel
  3. In the Control Panel window, click on Programs.
  4. Now click on Uninstall a Program.
  5. Scroll down and highlight the program you wish to uninstall.
  6. In the menu bar just above the list of programs, click on Uninstall.
  7. You will be asked to give permission to uninstall the application. Click Continue.
  8. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove this program, select Yes.
  9. If you are prompted to restart your computer now, choose Yes.
  10. Visit the Web site of the manufacturer of the antivirus program. Download and run any available tools for cleaning up your computer after that program has been uninstalled.
  11. Reboot your computer when the uninstall process is complete.

 


Windows Vista

  1. Close any open applications before you continue.
  2. Click on the Start button (usually in the lower left corner of your screen).
  3. Select Control Panel.
  4. In the Control Panel window, click on Uninstall a program. If your Control Panel is set to "Classic View," double click on the Programs and Features icon.
  5. In the Programs and Features window, scroll down and highlight the antivirus program you want to uninstall.
  6. In the menu bar just above the list of programs, click on Uninstall.
  7. You will be asked to give permission to uninstall the application. Click Continue.
  8. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove this program, select Yes.
  9. If you are prompted to restart your computer now, choose Yes.
  10. Visit the Web site of the manufacturer of the antivirus program. Download and run any available tools for cleaning up your computer after that program has been uninstalled.
  11. Reboot your computer when the uninstall process is complete.

 


Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003

  1. Close any open applications before you continue.
  2. Click on the Start button (usually in the lower left corner of your screen).
  3. Select Control Panel.
  4. In the Control Panel window, double click on the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  5. In the Add or Remove Programs window, scroll down and highlight the antivirus program you want to uninstall.
  6. Click on Remove.
  7. If you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove this program, select Yes.
  8. If you are prompted to restart your computer now, choose Yes.
  9. Visit the Web site of the manufacturer of the antivirus program. Download and run any available tools for cleaning up your computer after that program has been uninstalled.
  10. Reboot your computer when the uninstall process is complete.

 


Mac OS X

  1. Close any open applications before you continue.
  2. Use the uninstallation program or process recommended by the manufacturer of your antivirus program. Most programs will have a program or instructions stored in the same folder as the antivirus program itself.
  3. Visit the Web site of the manufacturer of the antivirus program. Download and run any available tools for cleaning up your computer after that program has been uninstalled.
  4. Reboot your computer when the uninstall process is complete.
