CAUTION: The steps in this process will leave you without antivirus protection.

Uninstall Symantec or Norton antivirus products from:

• Windows Vista
• Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003

Windows Vista

1. Close any open applications before you continue.
2. Open your Windows Control Panel.
3. In the Control Panel window, double-click on Uninstall a program (if your Control Panel is set in Classic View, click on Programs and Features).
   
4. Scroll down and highlight Norton AntiVirus or Symantec AntiVirus.
5. In the menu bar just above the list of programs, click on Uninstall.
   
6. You will be asked to confirm that you wish to uninstall Symantec AntiVirus. Click Yes.
7. You will be asked to give permission to uninstall the application. Click Continue.
   

   In some cases, this window may say that an "unidentified program wants to access your computer."
   In this case, choose Allow.
   

8. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove this program, select Yes.
9. You may be prompted to decide if you want to restart your computer now. Choose No.
10. If you use other Symantec programs that require LiveUpdate, skip down to step 16.
11. Scroll to LiveUpdate and highlight it.
12. In the menu bar just above the list of programs, click on Uninstall/Change.
    
13. You will be asked to give permission to uninstall the application. Click Continue.
14. Confirm that you want to remove the program by selecting Yes.
15. When the program has been uninstalled, you will receive a confirmation message. Select OK.
16. Restart your computer.

Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003

1. Close any open applications before you continue.
2. Open your Windows Control Panel.
3. In the Control Panel window, double click on the Add/Remove Programs icon.

   

4. Scroll down and highlight Norton AntiVirus or Symantec AntiVirus.
5. Click on Remove.
   
6. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove this program, select Yes.
7. You will be prompted to decide if you want to restart your computer now. Choose No.
   
8. If you use other Symantec programs that require LiveUpdate, skip down to step 13.
9. Scroll to LiveUpdate and highlight it.
10. Click on Remove.
    
11. Confirm that you want to remove the program by selecting Yes.
12. When the program has been uninstalled, you will receive a confirmation message. Select OK.
13. Restart your computer.
