Updating Virus Definitions for Intego VirusBarrier for Mac OS X
Your copy of Intego VirusBarrier for Mac OS X is initially configured to update itself on a weekly basis. It will check in with Intego's antivirus parent servers once every 7 days, receiving any new antivirus definitions and product updates that may be available.
If you have a need to manually update your virus definitions, use the procedure documented below:
- Be sure that you are an administrator for the computer on which you will be updating. [How can I tell if I'm an administrator?]
- Open your Applications folder and double-click on the NetUpdate icon.

- The NetUpdate window will appear. NetUpdate will immediately connect to Intego's update servers to determine if any new virus definitions or VirusBarrier software updates are available.

- When the check is complete:
- If updates are available, you will be prompted to install them. Press the OK button.
- If no updates are available, press the OK button, and close NetUpdate.
- Updates to your client will be listed in bold print, with check boxes already selected. Press the Update button to download and install the updates.

- You will be asked to authenticate, so the installation can continue.
- NetUpdate will download the selected updates and install them on your computer. Depending on the number of updates to be installed, this process may take several moments to complete.
- When the update process is complete, NetUpdate will indicate that the installation was successful. Press the OK button.
- NetUpdate will perform a follow-up update check, to see if there are additional updates to install. If new updates are available, repeat steps 4 through 9.
- Close NetUpdate.
If you have problems while performing these steps, contact the NC State Help Desk for assistance.
