What to do When Your Computer Has a Virus
If your Windows computer has been infected by a virus, you have several options for getting it off of your computer. Do not panic! We encourage you to try one or more of these methods for getting a virus cleaned up.
These methods are listed in order of increasing complexity, and you should carefully read the instructions before performing the steps. In the case of a serious virus infection, we recommend that you use the HouseCall and/or command-line scanner options.
OPTION #1: Using Trend Micro OfficeScan to scan for viruses
- This option is best used for small virus outbreaks and normal computer maintenance.
- This option is NOT available in Windows Safe Mode.

OPTION #2: Using Trend Micro HouseCall
- This option lets you perform a virus scan over the Internet, using Trend Micro's servers.
- This option is available in Windows Safe Mode with Networking.
- Using Trend Micro HouseCall to Perform a Virus Scan over the Internet
OPTION #3: Using Trend Micro OfficeScan's command-line scanner
- This option lets you perform a virus scan on your computer using your existing copy of OfficeScan, using the the command-line scanner.
- This option is available in Windows Safe Mode.
- Using Trend Micro OfficeScan's Command-Line Virus Scanner
OPTION #4: Using the Trend Micro SysClean disk virus scanner (USB disk option)
- This option is useful when other methods aren't effective, or you want a tool that you can install on a USB disk.
- This option is available in Windows Safe Mode.
- This option is NOT available for 64-bit versions of Windows.
- Using Trend Micro's SysClean Virus Scanner (USB disk option)
