Your outgoing mail server (SMTP) setting can vary based on your ResNet status, location, email program, and Internet Service Provider (ISP).
On ResNet
(Only students in campus residence halls and subscribers on Greek Court)
If you are on ResNet, you must use:
smtp-resnet.ncsu.edu

Windows Mail Setup
Windows Mail is included in Windows Vista. When you launch Windows Mail for the first time the Account Wizard may start automatically. If it does, skip to Step 2 below.

Thunderbird for Windows Setup
Thunderbird is a standalone version of the Mozilla Mail client. To download the latest version, visit http://www.mozilla.org.
These instructions are for Thunderbird 2.0.0.16 (or greater) for Microsoft Windows. You may need to alter them slightly for a different versions, but the server information will be the same.

Thunderbird for Mac OSX Setup
Thunderbird is a standalone version of the Mozilla Mail client. To download the latest version, visit http://www.mozilla.org.
These setup instructions assume that you are using Thunderbird 2.0.0.16 (or greater) for Mac OSX. You may need to alter them slightly for other versions of Thunderbird, but the server information will be the same.

Mac Mail Setup
These instructions are for the version of Mail that is included with Mac OS 10.5 (Tiger). When you launch Mail for the first time, you will be prompted to add an account and will be guided through the process, beginning with Step 4 below. To add another account later, begin with Step 1.

Searching Within Webmail
You can search through a specific folder or all your folders simultaneously for messages with header fields that match given criteria. For example, you can search all folders for a message with the words "Class notes." Here's the search procedure:

Folders
You can organize and manage your messages more efficiently by using folders. This is especially helpful if you have a lot of e-mail.
