Moodle

Many faculty make course material available online through NC State’s Learning Management System (LMS) Wolfware.

To find online material for your courses, go to http://go.ncsu.edu/wolfware, log in with your Unity ID and password, and you will be taken to a page that displays your schedule with a link to the course website if the instructor has created one. On the right hand side of the page there will be links to tools in the LMS that your instructor might be using as well as links for training, support, and help.

Moodle is an open source course management system used at NC State to deliver course materials to you virtually. Your instructor can use several Moodle features (e.g., chat, discussion forums, announcements) to make your course an active learning experience.

Accessing Your Courses
You will automatically be enrolled in any course you have signed up for through Registration and Records (R&R). Once R&R approves you for the class, you will be given access to its Moodle section within 24-48 hours.

Course Layout
Courses in Moodle are organized in a series of blocks and may have up to three columns of blocks. Your main course content will always be in the largest set of these blocks.

Viewing Options
All of the main content blocks in a course can be either shown or hidden, depending on your preference for viewing the content.

Breadcrumbs
The “breadcrumb trail” is located at the top of your screen (just below the URL or browser address). You can see where you are located in the course and use the trail to move around within the course.

Quizzes
Quizzes can include different types of questions and can be administered in several ways. Some quizzes can only be taken once, while some will allow multiple attempts.

Assignments
Some assignments require you to upload files, while some just ask you to type responses in a box.

Grades
You can view your grades and any feedback from your instructor by clicking on “Grades” from the “Administration” block on your main course page.
