Configuring your DroidX to connect to Gmail

  1. Make sure you have already synced your password using the procedure described under Syncing your Unity passwordThis link will open in a new window. If you don't do this first, your connection still won't work even after completing the following steps.
  2. Touch General Settings, and confirm information in all General Settings fields are correct. Make any necessary changes, then select OK to exit this menu. 
  3. Touch: Incoming Server.
  4. Select: IMAP Mail Server.
  5. Enter IMAP server: imap.gmail.com
  6. Select both: Use Secure connection and Verify Certificate.
  7. Enter Port: 993
  8. Enter or confirm your Username: UnityID@ncsu.edu  [Note: This must be the fully-qualified address, so be sure to include the @ncsu.edu in it.]
  9. Enter or confirm your Unity password.
  10. Tap on OK.
  11. Select Outgoing Server.
  12. Enter SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
  13. Select both: Use Secure connection and Verify Certificate. 
  14. Enter Port: 465
  15. Enter or confirm your Username: UnityID@ncsu.edu  [Note: This must be the fully-qualified address, so be sure to include the @ncsu.edu in it.]
  16. Enter or confirm your Unity password.
  17. Tap on OK.
  18. Tap on Other Settings.
  19. Select length of time messages will be kept on handset. (1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, Never Delete Messages)
  20. Tap on OK.
  21. Tap on OK again to submit Gmail set-up.
