Configuring your DroidX to connect to Gmail
- Make sure you have already synced your password using the procedure described under Syncing your Unity passwordThis link will open in a new window. If you don't do this first, your connection still won't work even after completing the following steps.
- Touch General Settings, and confirm information in all General Settings fields are correct. Make any necessary changes, then select OK to exit this menu.
- Touch: Incoming Server.
- Select: IMAP Mail Server.
- Enter IMAP server: imap.gmail.com
- Select both: Use Secure connection and Verify Certificate.
- Enter Port: 993
- Enter or confirm your Username: UnityID@ncsu.edu [Note: This must be the fully-qualified address, so be sure to include the @ncsu.edu in it.]
- Enter or confirm your Unity password.
- Tap on OK.
- Select Outgoing Server.
- Enter SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
- Select both: Use Secure connection and Verify Certificate.
- Enter Port: 465
- Enter or confirm your Username: UnityID@ncsu.edu [Note: This must be the fully-qualified address, so be sure to include the @ncsu.edu in it.]
- Enter or confirm your Unity password.
- Tap on OK.
- Tap on Other Settings.
- Select length of time messages will be kept on handset. (1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, Never Delete Messages)
- Tap on OK.
- Tap on OK again to submit Gmail set-up.
