Searching Within Webmail

You can search through a specific folder or all your folders simultaneously for messages with header fields that match given criteria. For example, you can search all folders for a message with the words "Class notes." Here's the search procedure:

  1. Choose the folder(s) you wish to search.
  2. Type in the search criteria.
  3. Choose the part of the message to search.
  4. Select the Search button.

When you submit your search, the results will appear below the search form, which shows the criteria used for the search. You can choose the message you wish to view and read it just like a normal message.

What to search through
On the right side of the form is a drop-down list of places to search:

  • Body - Searches through the body of the message only. This is the main part (text) of the message.
  • Everywhere - Searches the entire message, including the header. This option is seldom needed.
  • Subject - Searches only the subject lines of messages.
  • From - Searches for the sender, including the e-mail address, even though the address is normally not displayed in a message.
  • To - Searches for the recipient(s). This can include multiple e-mail addresses.
  • Cc - Searches for recipients who were sent a copy of the message.

Recent Searches
If you've enabled the Memory Search option (under Folder Preferences), the Search page also displays a list of up to 9 of your most recent searches for quick access. To perform a search again, select the Search link next to it. Using the Save link, you can move a search to Saved Searches, where it will be kept until you explicitly delete it. Select the Forget link to remove a search from the list.
