About High Performance Computing
NC State University High-Performance Computing (HPC) is part of the initiative to provide state-of-the-art support for research and academic computing at NC State. The HPC team provides NC State with high-performance research and education computing facilities and consulting and scientific workflow support at both an entry level and medium level.
HPC resources include shared memory computing, distributed memory computing, data storage, a suite of applications, and consulting and collaboration on computational issues. Resources are provided in part by the Virtual Computing Lab, the Center for Visualization and Analytics, and the NC State Grid Project, which is part of the UNC-OP and NC Grid Computing Initiative.
Support of HPC is provided by OIT and GRID operations staff, and includes specialists in the area of applications and code optimization, operating systems, storage, networking, as well as administrative support personnel.
