IBM p575, POWER5, (Post-Production). Shared memory system. Four IBM p575 compute nodes each with 8 1.9GHz single-core POWER5 processors and 32GB of memory; an IBM p550 login node with two 1.65GHz dual-core POWER5 processors and 8 GB memory; and 3TB shared scratch space available to all five nodes using IBM's general parallel file system (gpfs).
Warranty for system expired December 2008. System now running without warranty coverage, so hardware failures may not be repaired. Notes on using POWER5 system. |

Mass Storage (Production) Dell/EMC Clariion CX700 storage (8TB usable), IBM DS3400 storage (12TB usable), and IBM 3584 Tape Library containing 3592 tape drives and tapes. Tivoli Storage Manager with Space Management software is used to provide hierarchical storage management. Older, larger files are migrated from disk storage to tape. Migrated files are restored to disk automatically if accessed. A backup copy of all files is also maintained on tape. |

Intel/IBM Linux Cluster, Sam, (under construction). 1000 dual Xeon compute nodes with two 3.0GHz Intel Irwindale processors (nominally 12 GFlops per node) and 4GB memory per node. Distributed Memory, Dual Gigabit Ethernet interconnects. Peak system performance of approximately 12 TFLOPS and approximately 4TB total system memory. Notes on using SAM. |
