HIgh Performance Computing - Partnerships and Associations

	NC State Faculty HPC Partnership Program - Researchers purchase HPC hardware and any specialized or discipline-specific software licenses. NC State Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides space in an appropriate and secure operating environment, and the system administration and server support.
	Centaur Laboratories - Centaur Laboratories, on the NC State Centennial Campus, is an active participant in the NC State HPC and GRID initiative. It is collocated with the NC ITECS. The lab is the principal access point for state-of-the-art networking and computing operations and experiments, including I2 and NLR related activities.
	Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) - NC State is an Oak Ridge Associated University (ORAU). In the spirit of this partnership, ORNL helped bridge the HPC needs of NC State users of NCSC IBM SP until NC State's new clusters were fully operational. In addition, NC State and ORNL are cooperating in the domain of Peta-scale computing and networking.
	IBM's highly-selective Shared University Research (SUR) Awards program awards computing equipment (servers, storage systems, personal computing products, etc.) to institutions of higher education around the world to facilitate research projects in areas of mutual interest including: the architecture of business and processes, privacy and security, supply chain management, information based medicine, deep computing, Grid Computing, Autonomic Computing, and storage solutions. The SUR awards also support the advancement of university projects by connecting top researchers in academia with IBM researchers, along with representatives from product development and solution provider communities. IBM supports over 50 SUR awards per year worldwide. NC State has received an IBM SUR award each year since 1994.
	North Carolina Networking Initiative (NCNI) - NC State is an active participant in NCNI. This effort provides the HPC networking backbone and interconnectivity needed for distributed HPC and Grid solutions.
	Renaissance Institute - The Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI) is a major new collaboration that combines the strengths of Duke University, North Carolina State University and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with the social, business and research opportunities of the Research Triangle Park and the State of North Carolina.
