Hillsborough Building access changes today!

Starting today, (Wednesday, July 1), employees of the Hillsborough Building will be required to scan their proximity badge to enter the building.

Here are some procedures to remember!

  • A green light indicates your scan was successful. A red light indicates it wasn't. If scanning continues to be unsuccessful, dial option #9 on the telephone in the lobby for assistance.
  • To enter the building from the rear, scan your badge at that entrance. To enter from the front, once inside the lobby, you'll have to scan your badge in front of one of three scanners to enter further into the building:
  • To access the first floor through the double doors, scan your badge just to the right of the desk.
  • To access the basement, second floor or third floor by stairs, scan your badge by the stairwell door.
  • To access the basement, second floor or third floor by elevator, press the Up or Down button to call the elevator, and after entering the cab, scan your badge before pressing the button for your desired floor. The scanner is above the floor buttons.

Please instruct guests of the Hillsborough Building who do not have their own proximity badge access to use the phone on the desk to call you once they arrive, so you can let them further into the building. There will also be a phone list on the desk for their reference should they forgot your telephone number.

The phone will also offer three options to access services operating in the Hillsborough Building: The Help Desk, Op Scanning, and Operations/Deliveries. Note: Although there is a Help Desk option, Help Desk customers are being directed to contact and visit the Walk-in Center in the West Dunn Building as their first point of contact.

OIT employees who need access and have a proximity card that isn't currently authorized for the building should send a request to oit-iso-dcm@lists.ncsu.edu to authorize Hillsborough Building access on the card. OIT employees needing access who don't already have a proximity card should see their manager to obtain a card. Once they receive their card, they should send a request to oit-iso-dcm@lists.ncsu.edu to authorize Hillsborough Building access on the card.

Additional information about proximity cards can be found here: Use of Facilities - Proximity Card Procedures and Contacts.
