NC State & UNC-Chapel Hill Joint Enterprise Services (JES) project

Overview

In fall 2009, UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State University agreed  to jointly develop, implement, maintain, upgrade and operate their enterprise resource systems to the greatest extent possible. This effort will be limited to the Human Resources and Financial systems. This partnership is charged with collaborating to find the most effective and efficient methods of sharing hardware, software, resources, business operations and external contracts in order to improve effectiveness and reduce costs of HR and Financial systems for both universities while ensuring that each university can continue to meet its mission and goals.

The intent is for both institutions to commit equal resources to the partnership’s implementation and on-going operations for all common elements (e.g. infrastructure for development, testing and QA, database and system operations, resources including hardware, system software and people). Applications that are unique to one institution with significant cost will be funded independently by that university (e.g. Student, production hardware, PeopleSoft licenses).
