Network Registration

Device Registration on ResNet

Manual registration is required for devices connected to ResNet that are not capable of browsing the web, such as game consoles, TiVos  and IP telephones. You can use the manual registration form from a standard computer to register these types of devices. Routers do not need to be registered manually.

Having problems registering?

Each Unity ID may have a maximum of five devices registered to it at any given time. You can unregister devices via the online session manager. If you have a legitimate need for more devices, please send your request and explanation to resnet@ncsu.edu.

You should only need to register your device one time per semester. If you are being asked to authenticate more frequently, please let us know by sending email to resnet@ncsu.edu.  

Responsibility

You are responsible for the network activity of each device you register. If you have a wireless access point that you allow others to use, all their activity will be linked to you. If you register a computer for your friend, its activity will be linked to you. Keep this in mind when you register devices.
