Setting up Your Voice Mail

Create a PIN

• You will first need to create a new Personal Identification Number (PIN) before you can finish setting up your voice mail.
• The PIN you use now will not be recognized automatically, but you can re-create it in the new system if it is at least 6 digits long (numerals only).
• To create a PIN, follow the instructions on Creating a voice mail PIN. The last step in that process will return you to this page so you can complete the setup.
• Once you have created your new PIN, continue with the instructions on this page.

Complete your phone setup

When you have your PIN, you can complete the setup process from any one of the following locations.
Please note the differences in the setup procedure from each location.

From your own phone on campus

1. Dial 2.6245.
2. When system answers, enter the PIN you created earlier.
3. Press the pound key:
4. Follow the prompts to:
   • Record your name
     (You can change your recorded name later using the Messaging Assistant.)
   • Record a greeting
     (You can change this greeting later using the Messaging Assistant.)

From another person's phone on campus

1. Dial 2.6245.
2. When system answers, it will ask for a PIN, but do NOT enter your own PIN.You will enter that in Step 6.
3. Press the star key:
4. Enter your ID (last FIVE digits of your campus phone number or mailbox number, NOT your Unity ID).
5. Press the pound key:
6. Enter the PIN you created earlier.
7. Press the pound key:
8. Follow the prompts to:
   • Record your name
     (You can change your recorded name later using the Messaging Assistant.)
   • Record a greeting
     (You can change this greeting later using the Messaging Assistant.)

From an off-campus phone

1. Dial 919.512.6245.
2. When you hear the welcome message from the voice mail system, press the star key:
3. Enter your ID (last FIVE digits of your campus phone number or mailbox number, NOT your Unity ID).
4. Press the pound key:
5. Enter the PIN you created earlier.
6. Press the pound key:
7. Follow the prompts to:
   • Record your name
     (You can change your recorded name later using the Messaging Assistant.)
   • Record a greeting
     (You can change this greeting later using the Messaging Assistant.)
