About TSS

Technology Support Services, Susan Klein, Director

Technology Support Services (TSS) provides a variety of technology support and consulting services for the NC State University campus community. Major areas of support include campus desktop environments; email, calendaring, and campus Web environments; enterprise applications, learning spaces, student-focused computing and problem-ticket tracking through the Remedy system.

Help Desk

This team is led by Chris King, Assistant Director. The help desk is the primary point of contact for computing services at NC State. Our role is to support, in coordination with other campus consulting groups, the faculty, staff, and students of NC State in their computing and technology endeavors by focusing on understanding their needs and developing solutions that work for the campus community.

Remedy

This service is provided by Larry Robinson, Remedy System Administrator. Remedy is the problem tracking system used by a variety of technical support staff in many different colleges and departments at NC State University.

Client Solutions

This team is led by Danny Davis, Assistant Director. The services provided by this team are in the areas of desktop, communication tools, desktop software support, support for OIT's managed workstation environment, and support for enterprise and workgroup business software and applications.

  • Client Services provides support for the administrative managed desktop computing environment at N.C. State University. Services include application delivery; workstation management and patch delivery; operating system, printing and application support; and support for a variety of communication tools.
  • The Solutions Center focuses on support for business applications—from enterprise-level systems (Financials, HR, Student Information Systems (SIS), MyPack Portal) to departmental-level applications. Services include business application delivery, access and support,  support for reporting environments, and consultation with university departments on solutions to their technology problems.
  • Distributed Support (DS) is a program led by Barry Eriksen and provides access to technically experienced professional staff for troubleshooting, analysis and planning. Since its inception, the DS program has proved to be a valuable resource for NCSU departments. Units across campus partner with OIT for computer support. Often a support position can be shared between two units, allowing them to maintain access to a NCSU-based support professional in spite of limited funds.

Learning Space Support

This team is led by David Ladrie, Assistant Director. The services provided by this team include AV design & integration, support for technology in classrooms and learning spaces, support for student computing facilities, support for student computing in university residence halls, and support for student-owned workstations.

  • ClassTech supports the use of classroom technologies in learning spaces across campus.
  • Audio-Visual technology design and integration services.
  • ResNet provides and supports Internet access for students living in N.C. State University residence halls and in Greek Court.
  • Unity Computer Lab Support maintains 315 workstations located in nine Unity Labs and four Training Labs.
  • The Walk-in Center provides technology and media services support for student-owned computers, computing accounts, ResNet connections, cable TV, phone services, and more.
