Printer requirements

  • Wolfcopy-approved model
  • BlueCat compatible
  • status retrievable by SNMP
  • page count retrievable with PJL commands
  • retrieve a TFTP configuration file to generate IP Access Control Lists (ACLs)
  • support:
    • bi-directional printing via Port 9100 (the PDL datastreaming port)
    • PostScript
    • Printer Job Language (PJL)

Requesting a printer

Fill in and submit the form at WolfPrint - Request a Printer.

Printer hookup

  • WolfCopy will be responsible for purchasing the printer's network cable. 
  • OIT will be responsible for
    • setting the network configurations on the printer
    • monitoring the connectivity.

Networking fee

  • The department requesting a WolfCopy printer will be responsible for any port activation fee associated with the installation.  

Networking port

  • Each printer should have its own dedicated network port.

Registering in QIP

  • OIT will register the printer in QIP.

Printer object

  • must use domain name:
    .wc.ncsu.edu
  • must use WolfPrint TFTP Configuration File, distributed via one of these:
    • WolfCopy Printer DHCP template
    • WCPRINTER BOOTP template in QIP
