/System/Library/CoreServices/Applications/Screen Sharing.app now supports both Shared Display and Login (with iCloud credentials). Demo and Discussion
6) Tech Short: First Boot Scripts with NetInstall – 30 min
First boot scripts are widely used to automate configuration of new OS X devices where profiles do not work or where more control is desired. These scripts are NOT usually part of mdm(casper). Apple now allows for netinstall sets that are “package only”. This allows us to use the “Apple Certified” image and add first boot script to create users, set time servers, disable user prompting, enable ARD and more. Discussion
7) Unix Trick – 5 min
Discussion of the following shell script fragment tested on 10.11.1:
APASSWORD=$(/usr/bin/jot -r -s. -c 16 a z) # gives like f.h.d.r.e.c.x.q.i.p.j.v.s.z.q.b
/usr/sbin/sysadminctl -addUser labadmin -fullName “Lab Admin” -UID 1499 -password “$APASSWORD” -home /Users/labadmin -admin
/usr/bin/defaults write /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences com.apple.userspref.DisableAutoLogin 0
/usr/bin/defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow autoLoginUser labadmin
/usr/bin/defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow autoLoginUserUID 1499
/usr/bin/perl -e ‘my $pass = $ARGV; print substr($pass,0,11) ^= pack “C*”, qw( 125 137 82 35 210 188 221 234 163 185 31 );’ $APASSWORD >/etc/kcpassword
