It’s time for technology training!

Sharpen your technology skills before the fall semester! Come learn about G Suite apps, two-factor authentication, Cisco communication tools, and more!

OIT offers the following free workshops through August via REPORTER:

  • Accelerated Gmail will be offered on Wednesday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to noon in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. Come prepared for a fast-paced tour of Gmail and to learn about labels, filters, adding calendar events, tasks, and much more! To register, visit REPORTER.
  • Cisco Jabber: Your all in one Collaboration Tool! will be offered on Wednesday, July 19 and Tuesday, Aug.  8 from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. This Lunch and Learn will provide an overview of how Cisco Jabber streamlines communications and enhances productivity by unifying presence, instant messaging, voice, video, voice messaging, screen sharing, and conferencing capabilities securely into one client on your desktop and mobile device.   • Two-Factor Authentication at NC State will be offered on Thursday, July 20 and Wednesday, Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. NC State uses two multi-factor solutions to protect many systems, accounts and services. Google 2-Step protects G Suite accounts, and Duo protects Shibboleth-connected services, like the MyPack Portal and WolfWare. Bring your laptop and mobile device to this class to set up these multi-factor solutions. In addition, you’ll learn the risks to you and to campus from phishing and other nefarious online activities and how two-factor authentication can protect you and the university against cyber threats.   • Cisco WebEx will be offered on Tuesday, July 25 and Aug. 15 from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. This Lunch and Learn event will provide an overview of how Cisco WebEx Online Meetings enables you to virtually meet, share content and video conference with anyone in the world with an internet connection, including mobile users!   • Create, Collaborate & Get Organized with Google Drive will be offered on Wednesday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. During this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to use Drive to manage your resources in a collaborative environment. Primary topics will include organizing files and folders, securing documents through file sharing permissions, group editing and collaboration, and using common tools throughout Google’s suite of apps.   • Gmail: More Than Your Inbox will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. There is more to Gmail than just composing, replying, and forwarding messages. This workshop will provide an in-depth overview of Gmail features, including an emphasis on labels and search tools, contacts management, chat, tasks, settings, labs, and new features.   • Google Docs: More Than a Text Editor will be offered on Tuesday, Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. This web-based word processor provides users the ability to create and format documents while collaborating on projects with ease. This session will focus on revision history, research tools, inserting and editing images, collaboration tools, downloading, importing, publishing to the web, and much more!   • Team Drives at NC State will be offered on Wednesday, Aug. 9 from noon to 1 p.m. This online YouTube Live event will provide an overview of how to use Team Drives for projects, committees, departments, or other team-related purposes. Learn about the differences between My Drive and Team Drive roles and permissions, best practices at NC State and how to request a Team Drive. To register, visit REPORTER.
  • OIT-Managing Apple Devices with Jamf Pro will be offered on Wednesday, Aug. 9 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Room B16A of the Hillsborough Building. Learn how to use Jamf Pro to manage Apple devices running macOS, iOS and tvOS along with best practices for deployment at NC State. To register, visit REPORTER.
  • Google Calendar will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. If you’re comfortable with the basics of Google Calendar and are ready to use some more of its features, this hands-on workshop is for you. This workshop will focus on three main sections: calendar (my calendar, other calendars, mini calendar), event details, and calendar management. To register, visit REPORTER.
