Google Shared Drives to become self-service process
Beginning March 25, the creation of Google Shared Drives at NC State will become a self-service process, and IT staff will not be notified when Shared Drives are created. OIT recommends that you consult with your IT contacts on best practices to manage Shared Drives.
To create new Shared Drives after March 25:
- From Google Drive (drive.google.com), right-click on Shared Drives.
- Select Create.
As a part of this change, the 14-day elevated “Folder Migration permission,” which allows you to move folders from My Drive to Shared Drives, will no longer be automatically granted. Users can request this access via the Shared Drive Folder Migration permission form.
For more information:
- Visit Google Shared Drives at NC State. (Updates will be added closer to the March 25 rollout.)
- Contact the NC State Help Desk via the NC State IT Service Portal or at 919.515.4357 (HELP).
