Drive File Stream is now Google Drive for desktop

Drive File Stream is now called Google Drive for desktop. Google will be slowly rolling out this name change and other branding updates for its desktop sync tool used with Shared Drives.

Mac users may have already noticed the update, but the change will occur at a later date for Windows users.

In the coming months, Backup and Sync — Google’s other file sync tool — will merge with Google Drive for desktop. Unifying these tools will provide a single client for users and eliminate unnecessary confusion. Additional information regarding the merge will be provided at a later time.
