Last month, OIT published a major revision of the NC State Data Management Framework (DMF) web page, which provides guidance to help all university data users safeguard their data throughout all phases of the data life cycle, including:

• Collection or creation
• Use and modification
• Storage
• Destruction 

The revision streamlines the DMF content with an easy-to-scan format that helps the data user fulfill their roles and responsibilities in support of the university’s mission. It also provides a mechanism for the data user to easily identify how to obtain assistance when guidance is needed or an issue arises. The update is in alignment with the REG 08.00.03 – Data Management Regulation.  

Remember, every time you store or share sensitive data, it’s your responsibility to fully comply with the NC State DMF guidelines.
