Michigan State CIO to speak on leadership, diversity at IT Community Event

Melissa Woo, executive vice president for administration and chief information officer at Michigan State University, will be the guest speaker at the opening session of NC State’s eighth annual IT Community Event. The virtual session will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7. 

Woo is a well-known speaker and proponent of the higher education IT community. Among her many accolades, she received the inaugural EDUCAUSE DEI Leadership Award for her work to improve diversity, equity and inclusion within the IT community.

During her presentation, Woo will talk about effective IT leadership in a diverse environment and the importance of working toward an inclusive university where everyone has a sense of belonging. She’ll also speak about how IT fits into the digital transformation occurring within higher education.

NC State Chief Information Officer Marc Hoit will kick off the opening session, and there will be a special address from Chancellor Randy Woodson. Please add this event to your calendar.
