Does your campus unit or department use Mailchimp’s Free Marketing plan for its mailings? If so, Mailchimp recently announced several changes that might impact your ability to send and successfully deliver emails to your users.
Beginning Friday, March 10, Mailchimp will only allow:
- Up to 500 contacts, which is a decrease from the previous limit of 2,000 contacts.
- Up to 1,000 monthly email sends, which is a decrease from the previous limit of 10,000 monthly sends.
- Up to 500 daily email sends.
In early February, Mailchimp sent email notifications to its Free Marketing plan users with additional details regarding these changes and their impact.
To view the date of your monthly send reset and the remaining sends on your account:
- Log in to your Mailchimp account.
- Click on your profile icon in the lower left menu.
- Select Account & billing.
Account holders who exceed 500 contacts in the future will need to upgrade to a paid plan or archive enough contacts to have 500 or fewer contacts to continue sending emails. Likewise, account holders who want to send more than 1,000 emails per month or more than 500 emails per day can upgrade to a paid plan that meets their sending needs.
