OIT to implement semester cleanup of NC State VCL Azure Virtual Desktop profiles

Starting Tuesday, May 14, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) will begin a new standard process to remove all NC State Virtual Computing Lab (VCL) Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) profiles approximately two weeks after each fall and spring commencement. This process will help optimize and reduce the university’s storage footprint in Azure.

The VCL AVD profile storage is intended for semester use of the resources required to access course instruction and classwork. As an AVD user, you have a profile that is used when you log in to various AVD servers. The profile contains your data and settings such as Documents, Downloads, Desktop, and Application.

Until now, your profile and everything saved in it have persisted from your first login to AVD. However, moving forward, OIT will reset your profile after each semester and all of your data and settings will be deleted.

Please make sure to save any course instruction and classwork that you have created within the VCL AVD environment to OIT-supported storage such as the NCSU (B:) Drive or Google Drive before May 14.

If you have any questions, contact the NC State Help Desk via the NC State IT Service Portal or call 919.515.4357 (HELP).
