Update Duo Mobile App by March 31

A phone shows a version of the Duo Mobile app in front of a circle with arrows representing an update.

Starting March 31, Duo will require all Duo Mobile apps to run version 4.85.0 or higher to continue receiving Duo push prompts. Be sure your app is updated to avoid disruptions when logging in to NC State services.

Update Your Device

Devices must be running Android 11 or iOS 16 or higher to update the Duo Mobile app.

Check your device’s operating system version and update it, if needed. If your device cannot run Android 11 or iOS 16, you should set up a different mobile device or consider using a security key as your Duo authentication method.

Update Your App

Follow these steps to update your Duo Mobile app:

  1. Open Google Play or the App Store on your device.
  2. Search for Duo Mobile.
  3. Install available updates.

What To Expect After March 31

  • If your app is running version 4.85.0 or higher, you can continue to use the Duo Mobile app as usual.
  • If your app is running an older version, you:
    • May stop receiving Duo push prompts or experience difficulty when authenticating
    • Can continue using the app to generate passcodes
