As NC State prepares to meet the new digital accessibility requirements set by Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) is leading the way.
At the helm of these efforts is Rebecca Sitton, whose recent title change to university digital accessibility coordinator underscores her integral role in ensuring compliance across the university.

Sitton has worked in the assistive technology and digital accessibility field since 1999, previously working with the Disability Resource Office before joining OIT in 2021. She has been nationally recognized in her field and leads efforts to educate students, faculty and staff on digital accessibility to ensure all members of our campus community can access digital content.
Boost Your Digital Accessibility Skills
There are many opportunities to learn about digital accessibility on campus. Here are a few ways you can better understand your role in creating, purchasing, and managing digital assets that meet accessibility standards:
- Review NC State’s Digital Accessibility Regulation.
- Complete the Digital Accessibility Basics self-paced, hour-long training in REPORTER.
- Sign up for the IT Community Event on Feb. 13 and attend Sitton’s session, “Achieving Digital Accessibility Compliance by 2026: What Developers and Digital Content Editors Need to Know.”
- If you add content or manage any of NC State’s webpages, sign up for a PopeTech Accessibility Scanner account to ensure your websites are accessible.
- Consider joining the NC State Accessibility Collaborative (NCStAC). Open to any member of the NC State community, NCStAC’s primary goal is to facilitate collaborative allyship and engagement with accessibility topics and initiatives. This is part of a universitywide commitment to removing barriers to inclusion through in-person and virtual opportunities for building community, sharing knowledge and providing peer-to-peer support in the accessibility space.
Keep your eyes on OIT News for upcoming training opportunities and initiatives to move us toward compliance.
