Modernizing Access: NC State Launches Guest and Affiliate Phase 1

A red sign that says "NC State" hangs from a light pole on Centennial Campus

NC State has officially transitioned to a new Guest and Affiliate (G&A) Management System. This program modernizes how individuals outside of standard student and employee roles, such as vendors, access campus IT services and physical facilities.

Phase 1 Priority Populations

The initial phase of this multi-year initiative focuses on key groups to ensure secure and efficient lifecycle management:

  • Wolfpack One Card Access: Physical credentials for guests and affiliates now require an active G&A sponsorship initiated by a university employee. This ensures physical access is tied to a verified identity and can be automatically revoked when the affiliation ends. This process is now live and details can be found on the Wolfpack One Card website.
  • Separated Employee Access: Phase 1 also addresses the management of temporary access for employees who have left the university but require short-term system availability. This process is still under development and complete details will be released in the coming months.

What Campus Users Need to Know

The transition introduces a new official request process and verification standards:

  • One Card Request Portal: The legacy web form process has been retired. New G&A requests must now be initiated through Wolfpack One Card.
  • Active Sponsorship and Verification: For the Wolfpack One Card process, sponsors must periodically verify their affiliates to maintain account activity. Verification windows are 365 days for visitors and contractors and 1,825 days for corporate partners.
