As the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Security & Compliance (S&C) Director of Information Security Risk and Assurance (ISRA), Damon serves NC State as a central point of management for all activities related to IT security risk and compliance.
While joining NC State and its Security & Compliance team in March 2018, Damon has devoted his career to information technology in a university or academic medical center. For over a decade, Damon has focused on information security and has seen it transform from a reactive afterthought to a proactive support unit. Damon is not only passionate about IT risk management and compliance but also eager to see how this industry’s future unfolds.
Before NC State. Prior to working at NC State, Damon worked for Augusta University as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in Augusta, GA and then moved to North Carolina to work at UNC Chapel Hill (as Senior Manager of Information Security) and then as CISO at UNC Greensboro. Damon has an MBA from Augusta University and a B.S. in a double major from UNC Greensboro — Accounting and Information Systems / Operational Management.
When Not at Work. Damon spends his time attempting to assist his wife in keeping up with their three little miscreants (boys).
