Remote Worker Tools and Solutions

In light of the current situation surrounding the Coronavirus, many people are choosing to work from home. This is a reminder to everyone that we have tools available to make remote work an easy option for Campus phone users. 

Please note that some of these tools require a VPN connection to install or to use. For more information about VPNs, including how to install it, visit the Virtual Private Networking (VPN) Service page.

Jabber (Softphone) recommended for remote work using your campus phone line

Allows you to make calls from your device as if you were on your campus phone. Works on any Windows PC, Mac, Android, iPhone, or iPad. **See important note concerning certs for macOS users on the Jabber page.
Sign up for Jabber on the Self Service portal (VPN required from off-campus).

 

  • Forward All calls
    Log in with your Unity ID and password (VPN required from off-campus).

  • Single Number Reach
    Allows you to set one or more alternate numbers to ring when your campus desk phone rings.
    Sign up for Single Number Reach on the Self Service portal (VPN required from off-campus).
  • Unified Messaging
    Allows you to receive your voicemails (as a .wav file) in your email account.
    Sign up for Unified Messaging on the Self Service portal (VPN required from off-campus).
  • Voicemail options
    NCSU employees who have been assigned a phone number on the campus phone system can also modify voicemail options.
    Go to voicemail.ncsu.edu. Log in with Unity ID and password (VPN required from off-campus).
  • Cisco WebEx (Wolfmeeting)
    Available to all NCSU employees for
    collaboration and conferencing.
  • Conference Now
    Start a conference bridge for up to 15 people from any
    phone in the world.

 

  • ADDITIONAL NOTE FOR CALL CENTERS 

The UCCX/Finesse Call Center and myFinesse (Remote Worker Tool) both require VPN from off-campus.
