Manage Your Voicemail via Phone

You can manage your voicemail messages from your phone. Start with Accessing Your Voicemail and then proceed to the detailed instructions for the task you wish to perform.

Accessing Your Voicemail

You can access the Voicemail system from on or off-campus.

  • From your own phone on campus
  1. Dial 26245.
  2. When the system answers, enter your PIN, then press the pound # key.
  • From another person’s phone on campus
  1.  Dial 26245.
  2. When the system answers, press the star * key.
  3. Enter your ID (last FIVE digits of your campus phone number or mailbox number – NOT your Unity Id).
  4. Press the pound # key, then enter your PIN.
  • From an off-campus phone
  1. Dial 919 512 6245.
  2. When you hear the welcome message, press the star * key.
  3. Enter your ID (last FIVE digits of your campus phone number or mailbox number – NOT your Unity Id).
  4. Press the pound # key, then enter your PIN.

 Shortcuts for Cancel, Help, and Exit

* – Cancel an action or skip back to the beginning of the current menu

** – Exit the voicemail system

 Finding your Voicemail Messages

  1. Once you have accessed the voicemail system and logged in, press 5.
  2. Select one of the following options to find a message:
  3. 1 – Another user of the campus voicemail system
  4. 2 – All outside callers
  5. 3 – A specific outside caller
  6. Follow the prompts to locate the message(s).
  7. When you are finished, press ** to exit the system.

 Listening to New Messages

Once you have accessed the voicemail system and logged in, press 1.

While the message is playing, you may select:

  • 1 – Replay the message from the beginning
  • 1 then 2 – Play a message by a sequential number
  • 1 then 4 – Play previous message
  • 1 then 6 – Play next message
  • 5 – Play message properties
  • 6 – Mark message as new (unplayed)
  • 2 – Pause/Resume
  • 3 – Fast forward a few seconds
  • 3 then 3 – Fast forward to end
  • 4 – Slow playback
  • 4 then 4 – Slower playback
  • 6 – Fast playback
  • 6 then 6 – Faster playback
  • 7 – Decrease volume
  • 8 – Normal volume
  • 9 – Increase volume

 

After the message stops playing, you may select:

  • 1 – Skip back a few seconds
  • 4 – Replay from the beginning
  • # – Play next message
  • 5 – Get message properties
  • 8 – Reply
  • 8 then 2 – Reply to all
  • 8 then 8 – Call the sender
  • 6 – Forward the message
  • 7 – Delete the message
  • 9 – Save as heard
  • # then # – Save or Restore as new

When you are finished, press ** to exit the system.

 Listening to Saved and Deleted Messages

  1. Once you have accessed the voicemail system and logged in, press 3.
  2. Choose the old message you want to listen to:
  3. 1 – Saved messages
  4. 2 – Deleted messages
  5. Follow the instructions above for listening to the message.
  6. When you are finished, press ** to exit the system.

 Managing Personal Greetings

  1. Once you have accessed the voicemail system and logged in, press 4.
  2. Make a selection:
  3. 1 – Change greetings
  4. 1 then 2 – Turn Alternative Greeting on or off
  5. 2 then 1 – Change message notification (toggle stutter dial tone on/off)
  6. 2 then 3 – Choose full or brief menu
  7. 3 then 1 – Change PIN
  8. 3 then 2 – Change recorded name
  9. Follow the instructions above for listening to the message.
  10. When you are finished, press ** to exit the system.
