Google Cloud Print – Instructions

Contents

Introduction

These instructions cover the following:

  • uploading a PDF file to Cloud Print
  • printing a file directly from Google Drive

They do not cover Chrome OS and mobile devices.

Print job approval

IMPORTANT:  After you submit any Cloud Print job by clicking on the Print button, you will need to approve it within 10 minutes.  See Approving your submitted Cloud Print job (below) for details.

Login requirement

To print to a WolfPrint printer through Cloud Print, you must be logged in to your unityID@ncsu.edu G Suite (Google Apps) account.

Internet Explorer errors

You may experience errors when trying to use Google Cloud Print from some versions of Internet Explorer.  If so, please try a different browser.

Email address issue

If your preferred email address, as published in the campus directory, is not your unityid@ncsu.edu address, then the first time you print you will be notified by email to log in to PaperCut and confirm your email address. We are working to correct this issue so that this login step will not be required.

Choosing the correct print icon

  • IMPORTANT:  When using Cloud Print to print a document from Google Drive in your web browser (including Google Chrome), be sure to click only on the print icon that is on the Google Drive web page.
  • Be careful NOT to click on any print icon in the browser window or select “Print” from the browser menu. Doing that would likely print your operating system’s print window or the full web page that displays your document, not just your document by itself.

  • You can use any web browser to upload a PDF to Google Cloud Print printers.
