Update: 81% of Employees Complete Data Security Training

Decorative

The deadline to take the university’s mandatory Data Security Training was Jan. 31. Employees, including student employees and unpaid appointments, who haven’t completed the training must do so now. To date, 81% of employees have completed the training.

Protecting our campus community from cyberattacks is a responsibility we all share. Through the Data Security Training, you can learn how to identify potential threats and prevent data loss. The training focuses on topics such as phishing, data classification, artificial intelligence and mobile device security.

The 30-minute course is still available in REPORTER in the Required Training section. New employees must complete the training within 30 days of their start date. Once finished, employees will receive a Certificate of Completion and completion will be recorded in REPORTER as part of the required training portfolio.

Information for Supervisors

  • Campus supervisors must verify that their employees, including unpaid appointments, have completed the training. See Reviewing Compliance Warnings for detailed instructions on viewing training records in REPORTER.
  • College and division Human Resources offices will enter a separation action within 30 days for any unpaid appointments who do not complete this training. A non-compliance report will be provided to assist with this effort. A separation action means that the unpaid appointment holder will lose access to university resources, including enterprise business applications, records, NC State Google Workspace email, storage and tools.
  • Employees and their supervisor will receive email reminders until the training is complete.

For questions about the training, contact the NC State Help Desk via the NC State IT Service Portal or call 919.515.HELP (4357).
