Project Portfolio

Stay up to date on major IT projects and initiatives.

Digital Accessibility

This project will ensure that the University complies with recent Title II updates to the Americans with Disabilities Act, which requires digital resources, including websites, mobile apps, documents, and digital course materials, to meet WCAG 2.1 AA Standards.

Guest and Affiliate System Development Program

While students and employees automatically receive NC State Unity accounts, many university-associated individuals outside these roles also require access to university IT resources. This ongoing program oversees the design, development and implementation of a centralized Guest and Affiliate system. The system will streamline identity registration and approvals as well as the provisioning and deprovisioning of IT services. By establishing tighter access controls and coordinating related workstreams under one umbrella, this initiative will significantly improve campus operations and security. The following populations are planned for implementation in 2026:

  • Wolfpack One Card Users – Implemented
  • Separated Employees Requiring Extended Access – In Progress
  • Libraries – In ProgressWorkshop Accounts – In Progress

New Research Administration System

OIT is partnering with the Office of Research and Innovation and the campus research community to implement the InfoEd research administration system (branded as the Research Enterprise Data (RED) system). The primary goal of the system will be to support and grow NC State’s research enterprise by fostering collaboration, creating efficiencies, providing transparency and increasing the efficacy of compliance. Modules to be implemented include:

  • Animal Care and Use – Implemented
  • Conflict of Interest – Implemented
  • Notice of Intent – Implemented

Completed Projects

ProjectCompletion DateDescription
Public Syllabi ProjectSpring 2026UNC System policy now requires course syllabi to be publicly available. This project will help the university meet the requirement by developing a syllabus creation and management tool in the Student Information System. The tool will allow instructors to create, update and publish their syllabi, which will be made available in the course catalog and in the Enrollment Wizard for students.
Windows 10 End of SupportFall 2025The Windows 10 operating system reached end of support on Oct. 14, 2025. To ensure a secure and supported Windows environment, systems running Windows 10 were required to upgrade or enroll Extended Security Update (ESU) program or be replaced. This change was required in order to comply with the university’s Endpoint Protection Standard.
Google Workspace Storage ChangesSpring 2025Following Google’s removal of unlimited storage for Google Workspace, the Google Service Team implemented storage quotas and offered purchasing options for additional storage.
System Access Request (SAR) Migration to MendixSpring 2025This project migrated SAR from a Java environment to a homegrown solution on the Mendix platform.
Research Storage Implementation of RecommendationsFall 2024OIT and the NC State University Libraries implemented recommendations from a Research Storage usability study. These recommendations included consolidating the service information into one succinct web presence that sufficiently communicates policies and intended use as well as making the Research Storage portal’s interface more user-friendly with clear navigation and documentation.
