Outreach, Communications and Consulting

Outreach, Communications and Consulting (OCC) coordinates a wide range of activities and provides training, consulting, project management, video production and information services to enhance the use of technologies at NC State. OCC acts as a liaison to foster engagement and open communication between OIT and the NC State community.

What We Do

  • Conduct faculty and staff training workshops and custom training by request.
  • Create brochures, flyers, graphics, presentations and online training tools.
  • Produce publications for new and transfer students and their parents.
  • Participate in or coordinate New Student Orientation and info fairs, New Employee Orientation IT classes and special OIT events.

What We Do

  • Plan and coordinate OIT’s strategic communications to enhance the use of technologies on campus and market OIT events and services.
  • Oversee content and brand management across all communication channels.
  • Develop and publish content for e-newsletters, the OIT website, social media and digital signage.
  • Develop and edit content for other OIT units.
  • Gather information for surveys, planning documents and organizational accountability.

What We Do

  • Provide oversight of NC State’s Google Workspace service.
  • Promote new and updated Google Workspace services.
  • Collaborate with the campus community to provide a comprehensive support model and service documentation for NC State’s Google Workspace.
  • Collaborate with Google administrators and Vendor Risk & License Management to manage Google Workspace Plus accounts, Jamboard licenses and Google Cloud Platform.

What We Do

  • Provide OIT portfolio management to align IT projects with business strategy, prioritize investments and optimize resource allocation. The team also conducts regular reviews, adjusts the portfolio based on risk and value assessments, and provides status reports.
  • Review, maintain and regularly test business continuity plans and coordinate with the Emergency Management & Mission Continuity team to align with university disaster recovery plans.
  • Lead OIT project management, including detailed planning and tracking of all complex and significant projects that impact the university, as well as providing mentorship and developing project management tools and templates.
  • Oversee the IT change management process, including evaluating and approving IT change requests, ensuring consistent execution of the process across the organization, monitoring, measuring and reporting on the effectiveness of the process, and providing continuous process improvement activities. The team also conducts post-implementation reviews to assess effectiveness, identify improvement opportunities and manage associated risks.

What We Do

  • Offer video and other media production services for OIT and campus clients.
  • Provide media services, including program scheduling and public service announcements, for WolfBytes Radio and TV.
  • Develop original programming content and integrate other Wolfpack Athletics, club sports and intramural content to create PackTV, your source for NC State sports.
  • Offer support for the cable TV (WolfTV) service provided in University Housing and Greek Village.

What We Do

  • Ensure continued compliance with ADA and section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Consult on and advocate for the universal/accessible design of campus IT services and purchases.
  • Evaluate and test online resources and software for potential integration into the campus IT environment.
  • Educate campus about universal/accessible design principles and best practices.
  • Act as a liaison with vendors.
  • Participate in national accessibility partnerships.
