As new technologies emerge at a blistering pace and the landscape of research infrastructure and funding continues to shift, the portability of research computing workflows has never been more important. While you may have heard of the concept of “containerization”, wrapping your mind around the concept and the jargon that surrounds it can be an intimidating prospect.

Over the course of this 90 minute workshop, attendees will be guided through the ideas and terms underpinning containers and containerization, watch the process of containerizing a research workflow before running it on multiple platforms, and leave with a foundation to start building and using containerized workflows themselves.
