• NC State is a Google campus. We use Google Workspace to power our communication and collaboration.
• Your NC State Google account will have a storage quota of 15GB.

• When you first registered as a student, you received your Unity ID and default password. That password is not secure. You must create a new one before you can access university resources.
• You’ll also create three security questions and answers to verify your identity if you need to reset your password.

• Enroll eligible devices with eduroam, the preferred network for students, faculty and staff.
• Personal wireless routers are not supported.
• If you have issues enrolling your devices, contact the NC State Help Desk or visit the Walk-in Center.

How to enroll with eduroam

1. Use your Unity ID and password to log your device into the ncsu network (NOT ncsu-guest).
2. Open a browser (Safari on Mac) and go to the Wi-Fi website.
3. Click on Enroll Your Device and follow the prompts.
4. Repeat these steps for each of your other wireless devices (laptops, smartphones, etc.).

Multifactor Authentication

• Multifactor authentication (MFA) is required for all students, faculty and staff.
• You must download the Duo Mobile app or use a security key.
• No way to MFA? Contact the NC State Help Desk or visit the Walk-in Center for additional support and guidance.

Phishing

• The most common security risk at NC State is phishing. Phishing emails typically sound urgent and ask you to reply or click on a link to:
  • Share personal information.
  • Upgrade your account.
  • Prevent account deletion.
• Always be suspicious, take your time and ask for help from the NC State Help Desk.

Device and Data Security

• Protect your devices. Set up a password, PIN or other screen lock.
• Use the “Ask to Join” Wi-Fi setting to prevent automatically connecting to unsafe networks.
• Back up data regularly.
• Be careful with the apps you download. Review the privacy policy and understand app permissions before installing.
• NC State requires anti-malware on every computer you use to connect to campus networks.

• Use WolfPrint FollowMe Printing to easily print from your personal device or lab computer with WolfPrint printers installed.
• You can also scan documents directly to your Google Drive on select WolfPrint printers.

• NC State offers students an array of free software. Some software is only available for specific colleges.

• NC State provides a Virtual Computing Lab (VCL) that allows you to reserve a computer with a desired set of applications and access it remotely.
