3) License Renewals – 10 min

  • Casper Suite renewal requests have been set out by Bill_Coker@ncsu.edu.  He needs your license counts by Friday Oct 23, 2015.  JAMF is verifying these counts using a report of managed devices.  Remember that Bill need both OS X and iOS counts. Renewals for CrashPlan are complete but new licenses could be purchased.  There are no longer AELP licenses for server or ARD, these should be purchased via either the app store or VPP. Discussion.

4) New Security Standard for Sensitive Data and Systems – 5 min

The new security standard will be discussed at the November 10, 2015 meeting of MacPolicy group.  Please have a look at this and pass on to your MacPolicy rep.

5) JNUC 2015 Update – 45 min

Everette will report on the JNUC 2015 conference.  High lights include new JAMF Software CEO is Dean Hager, no new feature announcements (some private info on road map), new dedication to QA, IBM Mac presentation, K12 still way ahead in volume deployment (average 1-2-1 deployment 5-10k units iPads and Airs mostly), and much talk about use of provisioning, self service and modern management techniques. Several interesting “hall discussions” about Xprotect as only needed malware protection.  See the sessions at:

6) New Apple Hardware – 30 min

Apple has released new Retina  21”(4k)  and 27” (5k) iMacs with BlueTooth 4.0 (low energy) Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2, and Magic Trackpad 2. The new input devices use lightening cable to recharge and have not removable batteries. Target display mode is no longer supported in these models. Also Apple TV G3n 4 is due out early Nov 2015 with new tvOS.
