Create accessible Google Docs, Sheets and Slides

NC State G Suite users now have access to Grackle 3.0, which provides free accessibility checker add-ons for Google Docs, Sheets and Slides.

Using Grackle, you can identify accessibility barriers in your documents, spreadsheets and presentations and receive help to remediate them.

Install Grackle

To install Grackle for Google Docs, Sheets or Slides:

  • Go to the G Suite Marketplace.
  • Search for Grackle Docs, Grackle Sheets or Grackle Slides.
  • Click on the app.
  • Click Install then Continue to begin the installation.
  • Sign in with your ncsu.edu email address.
  • Click Allow to permit Grackle to access your Google account.
  • Click Done.

Alternatively, you can also install Grackle from within each individual app:

  • Open Google Docs, Sheets or Slides.
  • Select Add-ons in the top menu and then select Get add-ons.
  • Search for Grackle Docs, Grackle Sheets or Grackle Slides.
  • Click on the +FREE button.
  • Sign in with your ncsu.edu email address.
  • Click Allow to permit Grackle to access your Google account.

NOTE: You will need to install the Grackle app for Google Docs, Sheets and Slides individually.

Access Grackle

To access Grackle for Google Docs, Sheets or Slides once installed:

  • Open the specific application.
  • Go to Add-ons in the top menu bar.
  • Select Grackle.
  • Select Launch.
  • Sign in with your ncsu.edu email address.
  • Click Allow to permit Grackle to access your Google account.

An accessibility report for your Google Docs, Sheets or Slides will appear in the right side of your screen.
