Discussion

Patch Definition Management
No change.  Waiting for Jamf to release App Management.

Backup for Endpoints – The Code42  production service is at version 8.8.1.
For NEW installs only the package in JAMF is “NCSU-Campus-Install Code42-871.pkg”(will be updated when 8.8.1 is available). The “NCSU-Campus-Install Code42CrashPlan License and Config.pkg” is required in the policy as before for new installs.

Internet Recovery – https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904.
Also see: https://mrmacintosh.com/restore-macos-firmware-on-an-apple-silicon-mac-boot-to-dfu-mode/
No change

Software Packaging – Note that after the Jamf Pro 10.34.x update we are seeing more frequent upload failures from autopkg.  If you discover a package failing to install due to not being available on the JCDS please report in slack or open help ticket.

AntiMalware – No change.  DetectX Swift (intel) is still available and should be installed see oit.ncsu.edu/help-support/apple/jamf-pro/detectx-setup-in-jamf-pro/
The Jamf Pro Extension Attribute “DetectX Issues” was rewritten in zsh and deployed Jan 2, 2022.  The scanning script is 99% rewritten in zsh and OIT will be available for testing on nccloudtest before Jan 31, 2022.  There is some internal OIT testing of Crowdstrike Falcon Sensor but there is no plan or money to go beyond testing at this point.

Apple School Manager – No change. REMINDER Make sure you *unassign* any devices you have sent to surplus.

Endpoint Protection Standard  – Phase 2 deadline- Was Dec 31, 2020.
See Required Jamf Pro Implementation of Endpoint Protection Standard at:  go.ncsu.edu/jamfeps

Yet another surplus reminder…again – 5 min
Materials Management let me know that we have several calls after the last December surplus sales for devices that were not unassigned from ASM or that had firmware passwords still in place.  Please continue to be careful when surplussing devices and remove all configuration management (ASM/ADE), firmware password, activation locks, and encryption as required by university regulations.

Adobe Quarterly Updates – 10 min
OIT is releasing the quarterly updates for Adobe products.  In Jamf Pro these are the installers with names that include 2022 like NCSU-Campus-Adobe_NNN_2022_mac-vvvvv.pkg.zip Where NNN is the product name and vvvvv is the version number of the product.  Also recall that _mac means for Apple Intel devices and _amac is for Apple Silicon devices. I have had mixed reports about the installers (esp. Intel) working.  I all my testing installations for intel and ASi work as expected.  I am still working on a few packages that will not work with automation but these should be available before Jan 31, 2022. This update is mostly for Log4j2.15-17 issues but adds some minor fixes. See release notes at  https://docs.jamf.com/10.35.0/jamf-pro/release-notes/Resolved_Issues.html.
