Lunch & Learn: Introduction to Windows Registry

OIT is sponsoring a Brown Bag Lunch and Learn session, “Introduction to Windows Registry,” from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9 in 216 Scott Hall. Tim Gurganus, OIT Security & Compliance, will introduce the Windows registry and how to edit it using Registry Editor (REGEDIT).  It will cover registry terminology, editing, permissions as well as how to make useful registry changes.  While other tools can be used to alter the Windows registry, there are still times when the only way to correct a problem or change a configuration setting in Windows is to use Registry Editor.

This session will help participants become comfortable making changes in the Windows registry. It will also cover how to import and export registry data, make backups of the registry, registry virtualization and registry forensics.
