Take one of our free workshops to get up to speed on a variety of technology tools, ranging from the new Apple Watch and iPad Pro to Google Sheets, Cisco Jabber, and Moodle with REPORTER.

Current workshop offerings are:

  • Two-Factor Authentication at NC State will be offered on Thursday, Jan. 18 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and Tuesday, Feb. 13 fro 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. NC State uses two multi-factor solutions to protect many systems, accounts and services. Google 2-Step protects G Suite accounts and Duo protects Shibboleth-connected services, like the MyPack Portal and WolfWare. During this workshop, you’ll learn the risks to you and to campus from phishing and other nefarious online activities and how two-factor authentication can protect you and the university against cyber threats.   • Google Docs will be offered on Tuesday, Jan. 23 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. This powerful word processor provides you with the tools to create and format documents while collaborating with others in the cloud. Topics covered in this session include revision history, the explore tool, inserting and editing images, collaboration tools, publishing to the web, add-ons and extensions, offline access, and more!   • Using Moodle with REPORTER will be offered on Tuesday, Jan. 23 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 108 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. Learn how to connect your Moodle Learning Management System content with the REPORTER registration system to support registration and completion tracking. Please note: This training only covers Moodle integration with REPORTER. Moodle course design and setup will not be covered. To register, visit REPORTER.
  • Create, Collaborate & Get Organized with Google Drive will be offered on Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. During this introductory hands-on workshop, you will learn how to use Drive to manage your resources in a collaborative environment. Primary topics will include organizing files and folders, securing documents through file sharing permissions, group editing and collaboration, and common tools throughout Google’s suite of apps.   • Google Calendar will be offered on Thursday, Jan. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. This workshop will focus on the new Google Calendar interface, including event details, calendar management, settings, and more. To register, visit REPORTER.
  • watchOS Essentials will be offered on Tuesday, Jan. 30 from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 106 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. Join Apple campus reps to learn how to get started with the Apple Watch. This one-hour session will provide an overview of the operating system, wellness features and continuity with other iOS devices.   • Compliance and Required Training in REPORTER for Compliance Admins will be offered on Tuesday, Jan. 30 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 108 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. In this training, you will learn how requirements are configured in REPORTER, how to assign training and how to view compliance reports. To register, visit REPORTER.
  • Gmail: Advanced Productivity will be offered on Wednesday, Jan. 31 from 9 a.m. to noon in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. Building on Gmail: More Than Your Inbox, this advanced hands-on workshop takes Gmail to the next level. You will learn more about labels, filters, canned responses, scheduling Google Calendar Events, Hangouts, using Google Drive through Gmail, and any planned or newly released features. To register, visit REPORTER.
  • Google Slides: Create, Collaborate and Publish Presentations will be offered on Thursday, Feb. 1 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. Participants will learn how to create presentations using Google Slides and will focus on editing, sharing and collaboration, themes, transitions, animations, and more! To register, visit REPORTER.
  • Cisco Jabber: Your All-in-one Collaboration Tool! will be offered on Monday, Feb. 5 from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. This Lunch and Learn will provide an overview of how Cisco Jabber streamlines communications and enhances productivity by unifying presence, instant messaging, voice, video, voice messaging, screen sharing, and conferencing capabilities securely into one client on your desktop and mobile device.   • Gmail: More Than Your Inbox will be offered on Tuesday, Feb. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. There is more to Gmail than just composing, replying to and forwarding messages. This workshop will provide an in-depth overview of Gmail features, including an emphasis on labels and search tools, contacts management, chat, tasks, settings, labs, and new features.   • Google Forms will be offered on Thursday, Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. This workshop will cover the basics of creating forms, editing collaboratively and viewing data in spreadsheets. It will also introduce several advanced features, such as custom themes, page breaks, question validation, and embedding forms in websites. To register, visit REPORTER.
  • Report2Web will be offered on Monday, Feb. 12 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. Report2Web is a web-based enterprise report distribution, archival and retrieval solution that allows you to access critical business documents using a standard Web browser. During this course, you will learn how to navigate and find reports to which you have access and approve reports, if you are an approver. To register, visit REPORTER.
  • Introduction to the New Google Sites will be offered on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Room 110 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. The session will cover creating and organizing new pages, choosing themes, embedding Google Drive folders and files, adding media, customizing Web designs, publishing, setting permissions, and more.   • ipad Pro with Apple Pencil will be offered on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 106 of the Avent Ferry Technology Center. Join Apple campus reps to learn how to get started with the iPad Pro. This one-hour session will focus on the setup, functionality and use of the Apple Pencil for note taking, drawing and more.
