Social media expert to deliver Data Privacy Month keynote Feb. 13

In celebration of Data Privacy Month, OIT is sponsoring “Protect the Pack! Protect Your Selfie!“ to empower you with tools and the knowledge necessary to protect your privacy and control your digital footprint.

In the social media realm, “Love Your Selfie” is about securing what matters most to you online — your personal identifiable information, your photos, accounts, content, and even your connected devices! As you share data on social media platforms, don’t leave yourself vulnerable to phishing, malicious apps and insecure account settings.

On Tuesday, Feb. 13, Nick Love, director of the Social Media Strategy Hub in NC State’s University Communications, will show you how to secure yourself socially. Love will deliver the Data Privacy Month keynote, “Love Your Selfie: Use Social Media Securely,” from noon to 1 p.m. in the Washington Sankofa Room of Witherspoon Student Center. With more than 10 years of professional communications and marketing experience, Love has built secure social media operations and marketing for institutional brands like Ohio State University, the University of Chicago and ESPN. He will provide tips to secure your social media profiles and to recognize potential threats to your personal and professional accounts.

A light lunch will be served during the event and there will be an opportunity to win great prizes. Registration is required.

Also during Data Privacy Month, you are invited to attend the following events:
