Google to shut down Google+ for consumers

Google plans to discontinue Google+ for consumers by the end of August 2019 due to a security defect that potentially exposed the private data of its users.

Google+ for Education, which is offered at NC State, and Google+ for Business will remain as viable services with full support from Google.

Google indicated that it will continue to invest in new features for Google+ for Education. Expect a fresh, clean look for the web and mobile versions and additional capabilities for Google Admins.

The Google Service Team will continue to update the campus community about future Google+ changes.
