Effective Monday, Dec. 31, OIT will discontinue the www4 web service, and content delivered via this obsolete platform will no longer be available via the web. Affected content owners have been notified.

No content will be removed or destroyed. OIT will provide permanent redirects for www4 URLs.

The www4 service started in the mid-90s as a way to provide personal web and project locker space to all campus users via the Andrew File System (AFS). The pages delivered by this service are not part of the university’s formal web presence. This is a featureless service without the availability of PHP, Shibboleth or ServerSide Includes capabilities, among others. Campus users can opt to use the following alternatives to host static and rich HTML content:

• Google Sites
• Google Drive
• WordPress Blogs
• Moodle (for course content)
• Github
