Adobe packages to use– 5 min
There is some confusion about which packages to use to install adobe products.:
- The new installers DO NOT UNINSTALL older products. If you need to clean out all old Adobe products use the script “NCSU-LIB-Clients-RemoveAllAdobeProducts.sh” first then re-install from 2019 installers.
- License installers MUST be installed LAST and adding a new/additional apps requires the license installer to be run again.
- Today there is no single installer for Shared Device Licenses you must have your own.
- Every Adobe CC package in Jamf Pro installs with a Named User license
- There is no install that does not require the user to login
- Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Reader can both “read” you don’t need to install both
- If you only need to read PDFs and fill out forms consider using Preview and don’t install anything adobe
- If you have any Adobe CC product at all and must have Acrobat then install
NCSU-Campus-Adobe-Acrobat 2019 Mac_Install.pkg.zip - If you want only Acrobat then also install NCSU-Campus-Adobe-Acrobat 2019 Mac_Install.pkg.zip
- There are several known issues with macOS 10.15 Catalina. The most current installer Adobe has released for Acrobat (any version) is dated Nov 11, 2019 and still installs at least one 32 bit component
“/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/PDApp/core/PDApp.app/Contents/MacOS/PDApp” and that causes Acrobat to fail on Catalina.
Most other issues are around access permissions See: helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/compatibility-with-macos-10-15-catalina.html and helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/fix-macos-64-bit-compatibility-errors.html
