Vice Chancellor for Information Technology & CIO

On September 1, 2008, Dr. Marc Hoit joined NC State as the university's first Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and CIO. In this position he leads the Office of Information Technology (OIT), which was created by merging the two former central IT units for academic and administrative computing on campus.

Dr. Hoit is currently working on a three-phase plan to improve the use of information technology as a driver for change. The three phases are:

  1. Develop a Strategic Operations Plan for the central IT organization in order to make it more efficient, effective, and responsive to its  customers, and focused on providing service to the university;
  2. Improve the IT governance on campus to be sure there is input and collaboration on decisions and directions for IT; and
  3. Develop an IT Strategic Plan for campus  that involves all the units, groups and constituents  and that infuses IT into the fabric of the university.

These changes will take place over the next few years and beyond. Watch this site for updates, drafts, and chances to participate.

See the official University News Release for more information about Dr. Hoit's appointment.
