Outreach, Communications and Consulting, Stan North Martin, Director

Outreach, communications and consulting (OCC) coordinates a wide range of activities and provides training, consulting, media production and information services to enhance the use of technologies at NC State. The unit acts as a liaison to foster engagement and open communications between OIT and the NC State community it serves.

Design, Education & Outreach

This team is led by Sarah Noell. Design services include Web site design, brochure and flyer design, graphic design, and presentation design. Education and training services include sponsoring faculty and staff training workshops, lunch and learn opportunities, custom training by request, online training tools and documentation, and coordinating SkillSoft online training for OIT staff. Outreach efforts include coordinating OIT's New Student Orientation activities and publications (for all new students, transferring students, and their parents), New Employee Orientation IT classes , and special OIT events.

Information & News Services

This team is led by Jude Davis. It facilitates OIT communication efforts by providing newsletter and other news services for OIT; OIT Web site content development and organization; communications planning and coordination; event and new service marketing; content development and editing for other OIT groups; and information or data gathering for surveys, planning documents and organizational accountability.

Media Production & Student Services

This team is led by BJ Attarian and supports OIT cable TV and telephone services for students living on campus and in Greek Court. The team provides walk-in and phone assistance for student cable TV and phone services and produces the OIT residential student calendars. public servica announcements (via Wolfbytes TV, kiosks, Webmail, and the Technician). This team also provides media services including program scheduling and public service announcements for Wolfbytes TV and radio, and media production services for OIT and campus clients.

New Media Consulting

This service is provided by Hal Meeks who works with faculty and staff to research and use new technologies to enhance teaching and learning. Recent projects include NC State iTunesU content coordination and development.

Outreach Technology

This team is led by Everette Allen and services include creating rich internet applications to solve complex problems for customers, both internal and external to OIT. The team strives to help their customers figure out how they do what they do, and to provide them with a solution that can fit seamlessly into their workflow.

University IT Accessibility Services

The Coordinator of University IT Accessibility provides expertise and services to help advance the university's commitment to diversity and equitable access to IT resources and to help ensure continued compliance with ADA and section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Services include consulting and advocacy for the universal/accessible design of campus IT services and purchases; evaluating and testing online resources and software for potential integration into campus IT environment; educating campus about universal/accessible design princples and best practices; acting as a liaison with vendors; and participating in national accessiblity partnerships.
